Haddenham Steam Rally
Despite very gloomy weather forecasts the 40th Haddenham Steam Rally passed off with barely a drop of rain. To mark the occasion of the rallies 40th staging Steam Secretary Matthew Peacock bought together around 40 full size engines including many first time visitors as well as some old favourites
Star of the show was Burrell Showmans 'Earl Haig' which was for many years the rallies flagship engine when owned by the late Stan Burgess. On Stan's passing the engine was sold to the Whitchurch area but it was arranged as a one off for the engine to return to take part in the 40th celebrations.
5 engines on site had attended the first rally. 'Earl Haig', Foster Showmans 'Lord of the Isles', Aveling Barford Roller 'Linda', Ruston Proctor 'Success' and Foster Tractor 'The Iron Duke' which recently returned to steam under the new ownership of Richard Maskell. These engines were lined up in the ring on the Saturday for photographers.
The stage show continues to be the centrepiece of Haddenham's late night entertainment and was once again flanked by the showman's engines generating late into the night
