Thriplow Daffodil Weekend
With a Touch of Steam
12/13th April
2008
This, the 40th
year of the event, again had a great number of people arriving in the
village of Thriplow in Cambridgeshire to enjoy the sights and sounds of
the Daffodil Weekend. the programme stated that there would be almost 80
stalls operating - on the Village Green, the Cricket Ground, in a Craft
Barn, and in the School premises. About another 20 stalls were situated
in peoples' homes.
Entertainment was provided by Morris Dancers, a School Swing Band, and a
School Jazz Trio; Bell Ringing, a violin Recital and Organ Music took
place at the 12th Century St George's Church.
The Smithy on the Village Green was working and Robert and Michael
Pumfrey, President and Chairman of the EATES, had, as usual, the
family's 1914 Ruston, Proctor T.E. Success, No.50278, in
steam.

Several tractors were on view as well as a few vintage cars and motor
bikes. Heavy horses were providing Dray Rides around the village.

Although many of the daffodils were past their best, this did not seem
to distract from the enjoyment of the many visitors who must have
ensured that a reasonable amount of money was be raised by the Thriplow
Daffodil Weekend Trust for distribution to organisations within the
village and the Parkinson's Disease Society.
