Annual Dinner and Dance 2006
by Michael Pumfrey

Over 80 people attended the Society’s Annual Dinner at Whittlesford near Cambridge on the evening of 28th October. Poppies Catering provided another fantastic meal while the Plough pub from Great Chesterford provided the Bar. Guest speaker this year was Robert Herring, chairman of the National Traction Engine Trust, who recollected some of the East Anglian men of steam who are no longer with us.  After the meal a number of presentations were made to the various men who had taken part in the 2007 Society Calendar. Music this year was provided by the “6 Ts”, a band which proved popular with the guests.

The following morning saw revellers up and about early, steaming-up Robert Pumfrey’s 1914 Ruston, Proctor Success, No. 50278, and with the living wagon in tow setting off for the Plough at Great Chesterford for lunch, a nice way to finish an East Anglian steamy weekend…
