Anniversary Dinner
by Pat Freeman
On Saturday, October 22nd 2005, the East Anglian Traction Engine Society
held its 50th Anniversary Dinner at the Memorial Hall, Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire.
This proved very poular with about 100 members and friends sitting down
to a four-course meal which was much appreciated by the participants.
At an appropriate moment during the evening, toasts were
proposed - to Her
Majesty The Queen, by the Society's President, Robert Pumfrey; to Our
Guests; by Chairman, Sue Doncaster, and to The Club; by Jimmy Key of the
Strumpshaw Museum. This last propsal was somewhat lengthy, but enjoyed
by all as Jimmy is well-known for his anecdotal remarks.
Immediately after the dinner the Presentation of Trophies
took place, carried out by the Society's President and Chairman. A warmly
welcomed presentation was the 'Ladies Salver' to Maureen Pumfrey who was
mainly responsible for this Anniversary Dinner and the production of The
50th Anniversary Calender. A list of trophies, mosly awarded at this dinner
but some at the Society's AGM, is given on the 'News Page'. Click News

this.
A raffle followed and there was dancing to the music of
"Rockin' Revival' until midnight.
It is pleasing to note that Maureen Pumfrey is willing
to organise a dinner sometime in 2006.
